Penny the Penguin

Passengers on a flight to Atlanta got the best surprise EVER this week.  Penguins were traveling (first class no less) on the plane to a Discovery Channel movie premiere. They were the stars, natch. The flight attendents let two of them- Pete and PENNY- waddle around and greet their fellow flyers. Amazing. The name is appropriate since Penny of this blog is going to come back in her next life as a penguin.  A super skinny curmudgeonly penguin, but a penguin no less.

It's Been a Long Day

I feel so overwhelmed with urgent work matters. I just want to do this.

A Culinary Lesson

The Lord blessed with me with a wonderful roommate, Doyle, who happens to act as my live-in wife, making me dinner and reminding me to pack breakfast/lunch. When I have a normal schedule and am home before 9pm dinner usually awaits me but on days when I have events or Doyle has given up on waiting up for me I have to make my own meals. The horror.

I try to avoid ordering out because A. waste of money B. although I am slim, I usually eat garbage and I believe I’m rotting from the inside out. I also don’t eat frozen meals because I believe the hype and it just grosses me out. Actually, that’s a lie, I will eat Jimmy Dean Breakfast sandwiches forever. How can I resist this sort of advertising - ask Emily, that's exactly how I am BEFORE breakfast:

In an effort to keep me alive, Doyle introduced me to Ziploc’s Zip ‘n Steam Bags and seriously changed my life. These bags provide you with the ease of cooking a nutritious steamed meal – in your microwave – in MINUTES.

I am the Anthony Bourdain of microwave cooking. I float around like Little Mermaid's Chef Louis singing about stuffing Ziploc Bags. I literally throw the most random things in the bags, nuke them up and produce amazing chemical free meals in under 15 mins.

Below is one of my favorite meals, a Greek Chicken & Potatoes recipe from Ziploc (that I like to pretend I came up with on my own when serving it to others). Yeah, I successfully convinced my mom I can survive in the world with this one recipe.

Eat me.

Get these bags, pre-package your meals and freeze those suckers – dinner ready for days. You should feel like a happy fat French chef when cooking, too.
